I have been a bit of a fan of Goop since it started exactly 10 years ago (is it only 10 years? I feel like it has been around forever) I think my obsession began with a recipe – a cooking video recipe for a Vietnamese salad that I made and the salad and dressing was to die for. After that every week I couldn’t wait for the email newsletter with the next issue, full of fabulous cooking, gift or home ideas. There is no doubt about it Gwyneth has good taste – she would come up with fabulous personalised ideas for Christmas gifts (I bought a hand engraved wooden chopping board), ideas for beautiful table settings and did I mention the recipes?! (sidenote – if you haven’t already you have to make the eggplant parmigiana that Giancarlo Giametti shared with GP – its AMAZING!)
Goop’s success meant it expanded pretty quickly and after Gwyneth Paltrow moved back to the States it was difficult to buy all the amazing edits and exclusive collaborations as you had to buy direct from Goop website in the US – and it didn’t ship to the UK – ARGGGHHHHH…so when I was told that Goop have launched an EU/UK Website and they have a London pop up store in Westbourne Grove I CANNOT TELL YOU HOW EXCITED I WAS!
I was invited to pop down to the store to take a look, its been designed by Fran Hickman (a favourite of mine), so no surprise I love the interior, its pretty gorgeous and spread over 4 floors. There is a fashion floor which stocks Goop’s own line G.Label among others, a floor for clean beauty, then a homeware and gym and sportswear floor.
If I had to pick, the homewares floor would be my favourite, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE cooking, and Gwyneth’s first cookbook My Fathers Daughter is genuinely one of my favourite ever cookbooks, it was her first cookbook full of hearty meals that she cooks for her family and cooked with her Father (this a real home comfort cookbook which includes gluten and dairy etc) and her fathers pancake recipe is AMAZING! Anyway this floor is packed full to the brim of gorgeous kitchenware, tableware and barware – in gorgeous colours including some pink glass bowls and pink apron that is SO GORGEOUS and a set of non toxic saucepans that are going straight on my Christmas list.

I LOVE looking at beauty products, so headed up to the clean beauty floor which is filled with brands I love, including Tata Harper, The Organic Pharmacy and Goops own line and I got to speak to Erin Cotter the VP of Beauty who’s skin literally GLOWS – (always a good sign)… So I have always tried to be an advocate of using “clean” products trying to use them where I can, avoiding parabens etc, but do use a few hardcore products on my face where I need the help, so it was interesting to learn about some products that I hadn’t heard about that are a mixture of both.
So what are Gwyneth’s favourite products? Well apparently the Goop Exfoliating Instant Facial and the Vintners Oil are her ultimate go to…I am totally sold on the exfoliator and will be purchasing this ASAPS (you put it on for 3 minutes and then it stings) then wash it off for glowing skin, Erin says you can use it once a week or every few days and tells me GP loves it so much she uses it every day.

The lower ground floor is filled to the brim of the most stylish workout gear ever! (no suprise there – I mean GPs workouts and body are seriously renowned!) So it really is no suprise that the G.Sport range not only stylish but extremely functional, my favourites are the Desert Rose seemed leggings, not only are they an amazing colour, but more importantly they are super comfortable due to their four way stretch and flat lock seams plus they are super body contouring and quick drying for sweat purposes, basically when you wear them you feel like you don’t have them on, pretty perfect when you are working out. There are so many matching items in the range, I LOVE the matching crop top and would personally layer it with the racer tank. The whole range is divine though, and I LOVE the lightweight glass water bottle, I actually bought one to carry around with me under the pushchair, it has a bamboo lid and is obviously BPA free, and again it really is achingly stylish.

Lastly I want to talk about G.Label, which is Goop’s own brand, each piece is very much a capsule piece, there is a lot of navy, grey and neutrals in beautiful fabrics like cashmere and silk. I absolutely LOVED a knit dress with gold buttons (see below) and the Boyfriend Tee which is the softest blend of cotton and cashmere and I also love the collaborations that they do with brands such as Lingua Franca x goop and Louboutin.
So whats my favourite item in store?….well my love of DeGourney and Chinoiserie started from an article on Goop right back when it started, so its no wonder – I have fallen IN LOVE with the GoopxCB2 chinoiserie dinner service and tableware (seebelow), I love China and tableware and this is just super beautiful and the quality is divine, best of all the most expensive plate is £20.
